About Soaring Wild

Connecting People. Inspiring Wonder. Protecting the Wild.

The natural world has an extraordinary ability to inspire us. The silent flight of a hawk overhead. The remarkable journey of a migrating bird. The intricate relationships that connect wildlife, habitats, and people.

Our Story
  1. Curiosity
  2. Understanding
  3. Conservation

These moments spark curiosity. Curiosity leads to understanding. And understanding creates the foundation for meaningful conservation.

At Soaring Wild, we believe that protecting wildlife begins by connecting people with the natural world.

We are an Illinois-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 42-2506692) dedicated to wildlife conservation through transformative education, citizen science, and community participation. Our goal is to make conservation accessible, meaningful, and actionable—empowering people to move beyond simply appreciating nature to actively protecting it. Connect with us at connect@soaringwild.org.

We believe everyone has a role to play in shaping a future where wildlife and people thrive together.

Who We Are

We are educators, explorers, advocates, and lifelong learners united by a belief in the power of nature to inspire change.

Soaring Wild was founded on a simple but powerful idea: people are more likely to protect what they understand, and they are more likely to understand what they have experienced.

We seek to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and everyday action, creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds to discover wildlife, explore conservation challenges, and contribute to solutions.

Our approach combines three interconnected commitments:

Education That Inspires

We believe education should do more than communicate facts. It should awaken curiosity, challenge perspectives, and inspire a lasting connection with the natural world.

Through engaging educational experiences, we aim to make wildlife conservation understandable, relevant, and personally meaningful.

Science That Connects

Scientific discovery is essential to effective conservation, and everyone should have opportunities to participate.

By embracing citizen science, research, and data-driven exploration, we seek to connect communities with the scientific process and help turn observations into knowledge that supports wildlife conservation.

Participation That Empowers

Conservation is not something that happens only in laboratories, nature preserves, or distant wilderness areas. It happens in our neighborhoods, backyards, schools, and communities.

We strive to give people the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to take meaningful action for wildlife and the habitats on which it depends.

Together, these commitments guide our work and shape the impact we hope to create.

The Mission

Our mission is to connect people with the wild through transformative education and active participation in citizen science. By turning curiosity into commitment, we empower communities to become guardians of the natural world.

The Vision

We aim to create a future where nature thrives, and all people are inspired and empowered to be lifelong stewards of wildlife.

The Manifesto

We believe in the wild.

In the chaos of the untamed, there is purpose in the natural world—the silent arc of a hawk overhead, the rustle of grass beneath talons, the fierce grace of a raptor mid-flight. These are not just moments. They are messages.

We are here to listen—and to lead.

We believe that education is activism. That knowledge should not rest in books, but rise in hearts. When people learn the names of wild things, they start to care. And when they care, they act. Conservation begins with understanding. It thrives on connection.

We are the bridge between wonder and wisdom.

We teach not to inform, but to transform. To turn curiosity into commitment. To awaken awe, and channel it into stewardship. Our classrooms are skies and forests. Our symbols have wings. Our mission has weight.

We believe in the power of soaring.

To rise above apathy. To see with clarity. To act with purpose. Like the kestrel hovering with precision, like the eagle surveying from above, we seek the higher view—where vision becomes action, and education becomes impact.

We are not just observers of nature.

We are its guardians, its storytellers, its advocates.

We are Soaring Wild.

Looking Toward the Future

Our ambitions extend beyond individual programs or experiences.

We envision Soaring Wild growing into a recognized center for conservation education, scientific discovery, and community engagement—a place where people can experience the wonder of wildlife, participate in meaningful research, and develop the skills to become lifelong environmental stewards.

Over time, we aspire to establish a dedicated conservation education center, provide care for non-releasable wildlife serving as educational ambassadors, support scientific research, and create lasting opportunities for communities to participate in conservation.

These aspirations reflect our belief that meaningful conservation requires both immediate action and long-term commitment.

We are building toward a future in which education inspires discovery, discovery informs action, and action creates measurable benefits for wildlife and the natural world.
